Willing Hands has a dedicated volunteer board of directors who are proud to support this vital organization.

John H Lyons, M.D. — President

John is a retired surgeon who also has experience as a commercial fruit grower. He is presently a Professor of Anatomy at Dartmouth Medical School. He has been on the boards of several non-profit organizations dealing principally with international health and with the nutrition of underserved people. He joined the board in 2004.

Suzanne Serat — Vice President

Suzanne currently is a nurse midwife at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center where she has worked for 21 years. She has been actively involved in community action concerning women and poverty issues for 30 years. She is also an avid knitter. Suzanne joined the board in 2006.

Mark Lansburgh — Treasurer

Mark is the co-owner of Talking Well Farm, a 20-year old horticultural business located in Post Mills, VT. He is both a year round grower and a wholesale florist serving 50 customers in Vermont and New Hampshire. He joined the board in 2005.

Susan Gault — Secretary

Susan spent most of her career as the manager of technical documentation and course development for a computer and software manufacturer. She is now an antiques dealer specializing in early Americana. She joined the board in 2005.

Lorayne Bean — Director

Lorayne is an active board member of Willing Hands and a tireless volunteer in fund raising efforts such as staffing tables at fairs, farmer’s markets, Co-op Food Stores, and Border’s. She joined the board in 2004.

Lisa Cohen — Director

Terry Lyons — Director

Terry spent much of her life raising four children and supporting her husband. She has also worked as a medical secretary and a special education teacher, and is now involved in Alternative Health (Reiki-type energy healing and Shiatsu). She is also a member of a community development project in Honduras (ACTS/SHI) that has been working to eliminate malnutrition and disease in rural Honduras.

Maura Naughton — Director

Maura is a retired college professor, who has been an instructor at the Community College of Vermont since 2000. She is, also, a member of the Alliance to Prevent Poverty and Homelessness. Maura became a board member in January, 2005.

Linda Kennedy — Director

Linda has worked with students in activities and organizations for 25 years at Dartmouth College. She brings an interest in assessment, development, and education to the Board. She joined the board in 2007.
